1. What sizes and profiles is Retain-iT available in?

Retain-iT is available in three sizes and three profiles:

2. What post size goes with which wall height?

The Retain-iT system is made to suit 200mm timber sleepers, the most common and popular size timber sleepers.

3. How deep do I need to put the posts into the ground?

As a general rule of thumb, half the post should be in the ground and half out. The recommended depth is as follows:

Post spacing is dependent on two factors:

i. your design, that is how long you want your sleepers to be in your project space. Timber sleepers are generally available in 2.4m lengths

ii. the weight behind the wall which will have the most significant bearing; the greater the load behind the wall the more prone to bowing the sleepers may be. For a more accurate indication of the maximum length of sleeper to use, please consult with a landscaper or timber supplier in your local area.

 

5. I have a sloping site with a drop of about a metre. Can I use Retain-iT?

Yes, if you tier your site into 2 or more levels.

Remember that Retain-iT has a maximum height of 600mm for each level.

Tiered sites can look exceptional if designed right. Always consult a landscape specialist (where you buy your landscape supplies) for local area knowledge, design and building expertise.

 

6. Can I use a Retain-iT 1100mm long post for an 800mm high wall?

 

Remember that roughly half the post should be in the ground and Retain-it has a maximum wall height of 600mm for an 1100mm post, so an 800mm wall is not possible.

 

 

7. Sleepers are 200mm tall. Can I use Retain-iT to build 100mm, 300mm or 500mm high?

 

Yes. In each case half of the bottom sleeper should be below ground level to start your wall.
